I went in this morning for a single root canal on the left side and ended up talking the dentist into doing two root canals on the right side instead. I haven't been able to chew on the right side in over a year, and if he'd done the left today I wouldn't be able to eat at all. Sure, it would be a great way to lose weight but I'd psyched myself up for a root canal, not starvation.
The procedure was relatively pain free, but I've developed quite a headache from keeping my big mouth wide open for 1 1/2 hours. I didn't have a problem with the shots or anything, although I always giggle when they say, "You'll feel a whole lot of pressure..." Really, if they want to apply some pressure, they should have a talk with the OBGYN who delivered Carley and Corey! What a cake-walk comparatively.
It seems that the two teeth that were worked on today were pretty bad and rather involved. Apparently I'm one of those lucky people who have an extra canal in their teeth, and Dr. Ellard had his work cut out for him. Apparently my canals are rather bendy and corkscrewed, too. Twice I thought my tooth was going to just split in half with all the force he was applying. But, alas, I should be able to eat over on that side soon. Just gotta get a couple of cavities filled next month and I'll be as good as new over there. Then he can get to work on the left side. Ugg.

That sucks! I hope that you are starting to feel a little bit better by now. I freakin' hate the dentist!! But I LOVE getting the nitrous!

I have to agree with Flea! I HATE the dentist. I do like the one I have now, but I have never liked going to the dentist. Hope you can chew food on that side of your mouth soon! :)
Really? I don't mind the dentist. And so far my kids don't either. But, Mike hates it. Then again his teeth are as bad as yours. I won't mention how many cavitites I have had...and I don't yet know what that other stuff is all about. Maybe I will be so blessed as to not ever find out?!?!?
