I learned a lot of things this weekend as I returned to Nebraska to watch Kellie graduate. In case you didn't know:
*****Magna Cum Laude means 'really smart' in Latin. It's pronounced mag-na cuum laad-e, unless you're Corey, who pronounces it mag-num cuum laad-e. Go Kellie! (She was notified of her honors status via Lincoln Journal Star Sunday Edition, four hours before her ceremony!)
*****A five year old can learn all of the lyrics to the song Shake Your Booty in under 30 seconds. He can then sing them in a car for the next hour straight.
*****My cousin Laura likes beer. She also travels with her own beverages, just in case Kellie didn't purchase six cases of beer for her open house the next day. Laura also likes the song Tootsie Roll. Her daughter is even cuter in person and has good taste in food and people.
*****Four-bangers can maintain 80 MPH and still get dang good gas mileage.
*****Your right gluteus maximus can cramp up for thirty minutes at a time. McDonald's restaurants are not spaced in 30 minute intervals on I-80 (previous misconception of mine,) so sometimes you just have to stop at weird places to stretch out your rear.
*****Babies and dogs still like me. Sometimes they whisper, "You need one of me in your house." Sometimes I buy into this idea for about 30 seconds.
*****Kids are easier to travel with in groups of two or less. Less than two really isn't a 'group.'
*****Two-day trips to Nebraska are kinda silly and should only be done for good reason. Luckily, this time I had a good reason. Next visit, at least four days.
*****The battery life of an IPod is well over 30 hours. Riley can listen to the Cars soundtrack for four hours straight.
--------
I would love to post more pictures from the weekend, but they're all on Kellie's camera. Hopefully she'll send me some copies, along with the two CD's she burned for me that I forget to bring home. Oops.
Anyhow, Sunday afternoon Doane held a beautiful outdoor graduation ceremony and the weather was perfect. All of the kids were well behaved, too. Amazingly well behaved. I'm not sure if they were really our kids or some type of well-behaved clones, but whoever they were, they were great. I wish we could have seen everybody else, but I had to get on the road by 2:00 yesterday and the Open House started at 1:00.
As it is, I am exhausted and will soon either go back to bed or soak my cheeks in a really hot bath. I'll let you know what I decided on at another time.

YEA Kellie!! It sounds like you had a nice weekend! I would love for you guys to come out for a vacation to New Mexico sometime soon. Now that we have a house we have plenty of room for all the Herubins!!
Love,
Flea
You're in your house? Go girl! Just in time for you to set up another nursery!
Call Ken and let him know that you need me for... something, and maybe I'll have to come down! Or we could wait until after you have your little girl, then we can visit and par-tay!
PS- You are giving her a middle name, right? How about Brianne? Bethany?
We actually are moving in about a week and a half. But believe me, I am counting the days!!
Ken owes me anyway!! After all, I did get you two back together when you broke up all those years ago. He should be thanking me for helping him keep the love of his life!!
Haven't thought about a middle name yet.....Although I am not sure if Brianne will really go with Lola, which is the first name we are toying with. Then we can sing Lola, LA LA LA LA Lola!!!
But seriously, you guys should think about coming out sometime. There is so much to do here!!
Love,
Flea
Remember when you were a little girl and you used to give yourself middle names? You were stuck on Brianne and Brittany for quite a while.
Shame on Betty for not saddling you with something creative like Buelah or Grenadine.
Lola is truly creative, though. But didn't Lola walk like a girl and talk like a man? I'm just sayin'... ;)
Magna cum laude means "with great praise". Kellies high Grade point average is deserving of great praise. Just trying to justify the fact that I took two years of Latin in High School. Mandantory where I went to school. My latin grades were NOT deserving of great praise. They were just average.
Dad
I wish Latin had been offered when I was in school. UNL didn't even have it!
How were all the med students supposed to know what they were talking about?
For the record, I was not a med student. I was a less than average student who had tried about nine different majors by the time I realized I would never know what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Hey, we have one more thing in common - 9 different majors and still don't know what we want to be when we grow up.
Wait - have we done that yet? Grown up, that is...
Yeah, June, but you KNEW you'd have a family so you got your degree in that. Where's mine?
I should get an Honorary Degree just for surviving Motherhood!
They should really resurrect Latin. So many English words are based on latin. I'd love to take a class myself!

Lee, I owe you? I don't know if I agree with that statement. However, she has turned out to be a pretty good wife, especially since she is from that so called state of Nebraska. At least she makes cute little boys, cooks frozen pizza, makes spagetti from a jar, boils hot dogs, makes me lunch everyday (oops I was dreaming for a minute). Actually she is a great wife and mommy. Leigh, I'll let her visit for 4 - 5days after the baby is born, just let me know when you would like her to come visit.

Dear Publisher Unknown,
I think you owe me too. Can she come visit me for 4-5 days also?
I need someone to cook my forzen pizzas, make spaghetti from a jar, boil hot dogs, and make me lunch everyday....
Ok, I just need some girl time.
Can you come too? You and Mike can watch all the kids!! Nahhh, nevermind.
Watch all the kids what?
Set the house on fire? Poke out the eyeballs of a cat or two? Play in the highway?
Really, June, think about who you're talking to! ;-P
I did think - that is why I said nahhhhh Nevermind!!!
:0) hahahahaha
Boiling hot dogs MUST be a Nebraska thing because I do it too!
I think that I am going to have to make the trek to Michigan sometime soon. Because I want to see the area where guys live and see those darling little boys I hear so much about all the time! Oh, and I guess I would like to see Ken too!;-)
Love,
Flea
