Like a Good Neighbor...

We've got a great group of neighbors out here and you can always count on them to help you out when you're in trouble. Last night was one of those nights where Colleen needed help; the internet wouldn't come back online after I moved the modem and the router, no matter what I did.

We got ideas from the two nearest neighbors, but after hours of messing with it, it was time to call Jesse. Not only was Jesse able to diagnose the problem, he also ran home and brought us a splitter to make things even easier around here. Then he went and solved the problem of my neighbor's suffering front yard. (Hey, if you turn on ALL OF YOUR SPRINKLER ZONES, the grass might green up.) I'm thinking that if he lives long enough, Jesse will find a solution to world hunger and even better, figure out a way to stop women from automatically gaining weight the day they turn 35.

Anyhow, after the neighbors cleared out, I stepped outside and my other neighbor asked if I could do him a little favor. He was working on the sway bar of his car and needed me to sit inside of the vehicle for just a sec. I'm thinking I would just sit there and turn the steering wheel or something when prompted; hey, no problem. That's what neighbors do, right?

I get over there and all of the car doors are open. The neighbor points to the back seat and says, "If you could just sit there, that would be great." I'm a little confused, but okay, I'll sit in the back seat. I had no idea how I was going to turn the steering wheel from there, but whatever. When the neighbor crawls under the wheel just below me, it finally dawns on me what's going on.

"Wait a minute... you called me over here so that my fat butt could weigh down your car, didn't you?"

Giggle, giggle. "Just needed about 150 pounds to help line up the bolt down here, I really appreciate it, Colleen. It did the trick!" And that's how I ended up helping MY neighbor last night.

Cheer up Colleen, if I ask my neighbors for similar help, I need a 250 lb. problem.
