Number Crunching

Shannon just informed me that Zero the Hero came to his classroom today. This character always shows up on days of school that end in zero, (10th day of school, 20th day of school, etc...) and helps children understand the value of numbers. I said, "Oh, really? What was it, the 30th day of school?" "Uh, no, Mom," said Shannon, as if I were some kind of idiot, "It's the 50th day of school." Can that even be right?

I guess time really must be flying, because according to my new Christmas Countdown timer at the bottom of this page, there are only 44 days left until Christmas. Can that even be right? I've been feeling the crunch, and just this morning I trekked out to the Teacher's Center and Toys R Us to get a feel for the crap, I mean toys, that they're pushing this year. Wow, we are screwed! There is nothing out there! At least nothing age appropriate, stimulating, or sturdy and containing less than 2,342 pieces or requiring fewer than 8 AA batteries and a 9V. Ugg.

And since we're on the subject of numbers, Riley just informed me that Obama promised to bring down the price of all video games to $5.50 apiece. I remember some campaign promises that made me scratch my head a little, but this is a new one. I did tend to tune out a lot of the campaign, so help me out here. Did he by any chance promise stay-at-home moms a three week all-inclusive vacation to somewhere else? I should have been paying more attention.

I know what you are saying with regard to the Christmas gifts. We got Mateo is "big" gift already. We got him a little motorized ATV for $70 at Target. I looked through the ad's on Sunday, but didn't really see anything that I thought Mateo really had to have. It will most likely be books and DVD's for the rest of his gifts. Besides, our budget is tight this year since I will be on materity leave right during the holidays. So needless to say that Mateo will not be getting the loot that he received last year because Mom and Pop are BROKE!!

No, Obama did not make that promise. To kids, or moms! Maybe, if you get to know him, he could take you with him the next time he goes to Hawaii.

Flea, when are you due?

Hey, I'll field this one! She's due Nov 21, but going in for the C-section on Nov 20. Too much excitement on the 21st and all!

How can I say this tactfully, Kells? I think he was just there for a funeral and I'm not too sure that he has cause to go to Hawaii anymore.

But that stimulus check he's talking about? If the numbers are right, I could see blowing that in Jamaica...

Actually, there will be a private memorial service at a later dayte... Plus, closing out estates are difficult and may require more trips...

I'll bet he goes back!

P.S. Leigh, if you have a girl, will you name it weenie?

My due date is actually the 27th, but the doctor does c-sections one week prior to your due date, which fell on the 20th. I tried to shoot for the 21st, but she wasn't doing surgeries on that day. It will be like Shannon and I, his birthday is the day before mine!

Kells, I am having a boy, but weenie could work for a boy too!

Leigh,

I had a good story going and everything! Geeze.

Yeah, these pipes need to be condemned. Not going to happen! ;)

Kinda cool turnout with our day-before birthdays, too. Now I never forget Leigh's birthday, although I always remembered it before Shanny came along.
